Joseph Audio RM50si

RM50si Reference Standard

At $6000 per pair, the RM50si stands at the top of our speaker line. Yet, while it represents the state of our loudspeaker design art, it still delivers superior value.

To ensure maximum sonic definition, we carefully craft each acoustically optimized cabinet. Differing materials are chosen and joined to allow control over box resonances. The Hexacone midrange driver is built up of two layers of kevlar with a single layer of nomex -- far stiffer and lighter than typical plastic or paper. It is housed in its own specially designed sealed enclosure, preserving all the life-like clarity. The patented Infinite Slope crossover provides an instantaneous clean transition to the silk dome tweeter. This is the same tweeter found in many other designs that sell for 2 to 3 times the price of the RM50si's. Thanks to the tweeter's "symmetrical drive" motor system every thrilling nuance in your favorite recordings is revealed. You'll be astonished at the sweetness and detail. Finally the robust woofer extends the bass all the way down to 20 Hz. Equipped with Dynamic Damping, the woofer has generous excursion to preserve definition with remarkable control as it plumbs the depths. Sonically, it can only be described as possessing great power and great agility. Its perfectly aligned crossover and driver complement reproduces the full spectrum without a hint of wave interference. The wide and even dispersion of the sound affords you greater flexibility for room placement, making the RM50si a real option in rooms of all sizes. Its stable impedance brings out the best in both tubes and solid state amplifiers. The sonic palette from which you have to choose is greater, while the advantages of each amplifier circuit can be truly appreciated through these loudspeakers. In fact, the RM50si was selected by Stereophile's Jonathan Scull as the reference speaker for his survey of OTL tube amplifiers.

If quality sound is important to you, you owe it to yourself to visit a JosephAudio dealer and experience the sound of the RM50si loudspeakers first hand. This may be the beginning of a beautiful, musical friendship!

The Joseph Audio RM50si Reference Standard is available from $5999 in Oak, Black, Cherry, Rosewood and High Gloss Polyester Lacquer (shown).

Quotables

"Listening to the RM50s on the Jadis JA 200s, we enjoyed an open, appealing and airy presentation. ... The lower, mid and upper bass were entirely commendable, delving deeply and maintaining fine control, tonal color and pitch definition. ... After auditioning the RM-50s with the Jadis JA 200s, the Graaf GM200, and the Transcendent T8 OTL, I've got just two words to say about them: Highly Recommended." -- Jonathan Scull's Review of the Graaf GM200, Stereophile

"I couldn't resist listening to your largest model before I left (the store). I was stunned. Really phenomenal product. My hat's off to you." -- Chet1260@aol.com

"...about the finest speaker I've been privileged to hear" -- Todd Warnke, Soundstage 10/96

"The Model RM50si speakers were visually reminiscent of the old JSE model 2's of many years ago; however, the fit finish and workmanship here are light years ahead of the old JSEs. There is a good reason for the resemblance, both speakers shared a designer. The RM50s portrayed a very solid and coherent soundstage with the capability of allowing the subtlety of full detail layering combined with the ability to provide punch and high impact drive. This very unusual combination of abilities made me note that I wanted to return for a longer audition." -- John A. Horan, $ensible $ound

"The Joseph Audio room was another analog ear-opener... 'It's like I'm right there. That bass drum is incredible.' As the saying goes, 'Ask the man who owns one.'" -- Richard Rosen interviews jazz drum legend Max Roach, Stereophile 10/96
